Trium Circulorum is an artist name but also a platform for other musicians, a place for collaborations and creative endeavours of many kinds. I have formerly been active as 3dtorus and I am still active under the monikers Kanal Drei and Third Witness. From 2014 to 2016 I operated the netlabel Mobius Spin.
Trium Circulorum was started as a cassette tape (and accompanying digital) release project, not because of a vague sense of retrophilia but out of the love for analog noise, randomness, glitches and saturation.
Trium Circulorum has developed into an informal and open space, grown and composed of different and changing people. The self-released tapes on Bandcamp page are strictly limited to small and mostly DIY editions. There have been numerous appearances on labels such as Still Heat Recordings, Concrete Tapes, Fwonk* Records and Romeda Records.
Born in 1980 my childhood was full of music, which ranged from then contemporary Synthpop, 60s and 70s classics, a bit of J.S.Bach and tons of reggae, all that spiced up with occasional punk.
I have DJed Drum’n’Bass and produced in Cubase 3 on a basic level in the 90s already and found my way back to making music in 2008. From 2013 I started releasing and have meanwhile put out numerous records on numerous labels and on all common physical media formats.
The styles I work in range from experimental electronica to beats and future bass to drone noise to techno.
Although these are quite widespread musical genres I mostly manage to work a sort of trademark sound into all my releases.
All good things come in three.
Cassettes are making me feel cosy because they remind me of my childhood before CDs were a thing. Nothing compares to the acoustic imperfection of cassettes.
